La Blunie is a charming XVII century manor style Chateau available for holiday rental for up to 14 occupants. The Chateau is set in an elevated position with spectacular views overlooking the picturesque Lot et Garonne and Dordogne countryside. The grounds have a swimming pool, large bordered garden areas and are partly wooded. The total area is 6 acres containing fig, cherry and walnut trees, in season you can pick the fruit fresh for breakfast!
La Blunie is within walking or cycling distance of Eymet, a popular and lively medieval Bastide village with plenty of quaint shops. Here you will find street cafes, a variety of good restaurants, and a charming atmosphere that has to be experienced to be believed. There is a traditional weekly market in the square on Thursday morning, and a lively night market from June to September.
La Blunie has ample car parking, plenty of flat land for badminton, croquet or kicking a ball around. Bicycles of various sizes are provided for you to explore the area or just to pick up the croissants and papers.
The large traditional manor style French country kitchen is equipped to a very high standard with electric and gas cookers,
large fridge, freezer, dishwasher. The adjoining utility houses a washing machine and an extra fridge.
There is everything needed for 12 to 14 people. The large dining area will easily accomodate the whole family, often where we sit and talk whilst dinner is prepared. In the summer you have the choice of eating al-fresco, either on the terrace, the shady barbeque area, around the pool or anywhere in the gardens.
The kitchen leads to the elegant entrance hall with its spectacular circular staircase. Antique floor tiles run throughout the kitchen, entrance hall and a large drawing-room which is both elegant, light and airy.
The lounge leads into a formal dining room and onto a covered terrace - a delightfully secluded corner overlooking the grounds and a small lake. The perfect spot for an aperitif before dinner or to watch the spectacular sunsets with a coffee and liqueurs after dinner.
The lounge has Sky TV and a DVD and CD player with an extensive DVD selection. There are also board games and a library to suit all ages.
The swimming pool (12m x 6 m) has deep and shallow ends, Roman steps and is surrounded by a stone terrace with loungers, parasols etc. It enjoys day-long sunshine - a perfect suntrap for that golden tan!
The barbeque area is close by, attractively shaded by a circle of acacias on an ancient tumulus - a lovely spot for warm starry evenings after a day by the pool, or long and shady lunchtimes.
The Chateau can accommodate 12 to 14 people very comfortably. Totally equipped for your convenience it comprises six very spacious bedrooms. All the rooms have superb far-reaching views overlooking the surrounding countryside; they are light and airy and decorated to a high standard.
It appears that the Château is near the end of the rainbow, and after a relaxing break one of our guests
remarked that they felt like they had found the pot of gold in their choice of holiday villa.
