The area around Chateau la Blunie
Location
The entire region is famous for Wine, and considered to be the gastromonic centre of France.
Château la Blunie is only a 5 minute drive (or 15 minute walk) away from the picturesque medieval bastide village of Eymet, which has supermarkets, bakers, resturants, cafés, markets (day and night) and shops.
- Eymet - 5 Minutes - The closest to la Blunie, and has all things you need day to day. Night markets
during the summer on Tuesday are really a social occasion centered around a market. The Thursday morning market is an absolute must visit for fresh fruit and vegetables. The cafés and resturants are easily enough that you need go nowhere else for a week and not be border.
- Sauvetat-de-dropt - 5 minutes - Really mentioned because of the superb resturant "Ma Maison", although it also has many historic features.
- Bergerac - 20 minutes drive - A charming riverside, with the Dordogne river running through it. Bergerac has a truly delightful old town, a town quay, and trips on the river. The nearest airport is here with flights from Stanstead (RyanAir) and Southampton (FlyBE).
- Duras - 25 minutes drive - Situated on a hilltop Duras is dominated by a stunning Château. There is a lively atmosphere here, with bars open late and live music, and festivals during some weekends in the summer.
- Issigeac - 15 Minutes Drive. Worth visiting the Sunday market with local products and charming buildings.
- Marmande - 25 minutes drive. The market is worth a visit (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday).
